Cause-consequence analysis of non-repairable phased missions

چکیده
Many systems can be modelled as a mission made up of a sequence of discrete phases. Each phase has a different requirement for successful completion and mission failure will result if any phase is unsuccessful. Fault tree analysis and Markov techniques have been used previously to model this type of system for non-repairable and repairable systems respectively. Cause-consequence analysis is an alternative assessment technique capable of modelling all system outcomes on one logic diagram. The structure of the diagram has been shown to have advantageous features in both its representation of the system failure logic and its subsequent quantification, which could be applied to phased mission analysis. This paper outlines the use of the cause-consequence diagram method for systems undergoing non-repairable phased missions. Methods for construction of the causeconsequence diagram are first considered. The disjoint nature of the resulting diagram structure can be utilised in the later quantification process. The similarity with the Binary Decision Diagram method enables the use of efficient and accurate solution routines.

A binary decision diagram method for phased mission analysis of non-repairable systems
Phased mission analysis is carried out to predict the reliability of systems which undergo a series of phases, each with differing requirements for success, with the mission objective being achieved only on the successful completion of all phases. Many systems from a range of industries experience such missions. The methods used for phased mission analysis are dependent upon the repairability o...
متن کاملHigh performance reliability analysis of phased mission systems
Systems often operate over a set of time periods, known as phases, in which their reliability structure varies and many include both repairable and nonrepairable components. Success for such systems is defined as the completion of all phases, known as a phased mission, without failure. An example of such a system is an aircraft landing gear system during a flight. The Binary Decision Diagram (B...

The appropriate operating of mining machines is affected by both the executive and environmental factors. Considering the effects and the related risks lead to a better understanding of the failures of such machines. This leads to a proper prediction of the reliability parameters of such machines. In this research work, the reliability and maintainability analysis of the loading and haulage mac...
متن کاملA Hybrid Fire Fly and Differential Evolution Algorithm for Optimization of a Mixed Repairable and Non-Repairable System Reliability Problem
In this paper, a hybrid meta-heuristic approach is proposed to optimize the mathematical model of a system with mixed repairable and non-repairable components. In this system, repairable and non-repairable components are connected in series. Redundant components and preventive maintenance strategies are applied for non-repairable and repairable components, respectively. The problem is formulate...

In a phased mission the relevant system configuration (block diagram or fault tree) changes during consecutive time periods (phases). Many systems are required to perform phased missions. A classic example is a space vehicle. A reliability analysis for a phased mission encounters complexities not present with just one phase, but can be transformed into an analysis of a synthetic single phase ca...
